Physicians Using the Ingenix CareTracker Electronic Health Record System Now Have Access to Krames Patient Education Resources
- Library of medical reference and consumer health materials added to CareTracker to optimize patient visits, help physicians meet ‘meaningful use’ criteria
Ingenix is making patient education easier by integrating a comprehensive library of consumer-friendly medical reference materials from Krames into its Ingenix CareTracker electronic health record (EHR) system. Beginning in May, doctors using CareTracker can access and print information about medical conditions, treatment options and procedure recovery instructions for their patients.
Krames, a leading provider of patient education and consumer health resources, provides content that makes complex medical issues easy to understand and helps patients and their families make informed decisions regarding their care. Physicians who use Ingenix CareTracker will have point-of-care access to over 4,700 Krames titles, including more than 3,100 illustrated HealthSheetsTM covering procedures, conditions, treatments, rehabilitation and self-care, and more than 1,600 sets of aftercare instructions. All instructions are available in English and Spanish, and some are available in Chinese, Russian and Vietnamese.
Using Krames’ patient education resources will also help physicians meet the Patient and Family Engagement criteria for meaningful use, helping them to qualify for reimbursements for EHR implementation as outlined in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Ingenix is including access to these materials as part of the low, monthly subscription fee for CareTracker EHR.
“By making Krames’ authoritative patient education resources available through CareTracker, Ingenix is helping doctors save time and enhance patient care,” said Mark Costa, M.D., of Enhanced Medical Care, LLC, a Boston-based physician and Ingenix CareTracker user. “Patients are an essential part of the care team. Giving patients clearly written information and instructions enables them to engage more meaningfully with their physicians and contribute to their own better health outcomes.”
“Ingenix is making it easier for doctors to provide timely, relevant information to their patients at the point of care,” said Russ Keene, vice president, Ingenix. “Krames materials are designed to help doctors and patients get the most out of their visit. This integrated library will provide patients with resources that answer the questions that may arise after they leave their doctor’s office.”
Ingenix CareTracker is an affordable, Web-based practice management and electronic health record solution that requires no additional costs for IT, hardware or maintenance. Ingenix CareTracker enables clinicians to enter, retrieve and correlate patient information at the point of care. The system fully integrates with all the operational functions of a physician practice, further simplifying administrative tasks, such as billing, scheduling and documentation.
In January, Ingenix announced a package of interest-free financing and meaningful use guarantees that eliminate up-front costs to implementing an EHR system. For more information about Krames content available through Ingenix CareTracker, visit www.krames.com/ingenix-caretracker.
