In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, UnitedHealth Group partnered with Matrix Medical Network to deploy a mobile clinic to provide health care directly to people living in affected areas. The mobile clinic, staffed by WellMed and Optum clinicians, cared for 225 Hurricane Michael survivors in Panama City, Florida.
In addition to the mobile clinic:
- UnitedHealth Group donated $500,000 to the Florida Disaster Fund to help residents of the Florida Gulf Coast region recover and rebuild.
- The company is matching dollar-for-dollar donations employees make to charities supporting recovery efforts.
- OptumRx is working with Healthcare Ready to supply emergency kits and prescription drug donations.
- UnitedHealthcare took action to help ensure members had easy access to medical care, prescription refills and durable medical equipment, as needed. UnitedHealthcare also is providing hygiene kits to individuals and families affected by the storm.
