The continued suffering and loss of life of innocent civilians in Israel and Gaza weigh heavily on the minds of many.
In response to the growing humanitarian crisis, the United Health Foundation, the philanthropic foundation of UnitedHealth Group, is donating $1 million to Save the Children and Direct Relief to help with urgent needs such as food, water and medical supplies in Israel and Gaza.
“We are all devastated by the ongoing human suffering in Israel and Gaza,” said Patricia L. Lewis, executive vice president and chief sustainability officer at UnitedHealth Group. “Our thoughts are especially with the 120 UnitedHealth Group employees based in Israel, who fear for the safety of their family and friends. We hope this funding can assist with humanitarian relief efforts throughout the region.”
The United Health Foundation has partnered with Save the Children and Direct Relief on past disasters and emergencies. Both organizations are working in collaboration with local aid groups and have had success in delivering support to civilians in need.
