Integrating Behavioral Health Services with Primary Care in New York

Despite having one of the best primary care networks in the country, New York's behavioral health services still fall behind other states. In fact, according to United Health Foundation's America's Health Rankings, the state of New York ranks 29th in the nation for adults reporting frequent mental distress. To help address this issue, United Health Foundation has joined forces with Regional Primary Care Network (RPCN), and committed $1.5 million to expanding mental health services in Rochester, Rushville and Utica. This community-based program is integrating behavioral health into the primary care setting, training staff to deliver culturally sensitive care, and building infrastructure to ensure primary care providers have the resources required to support patients in need.
