UnitedHealth Group has leveraged its clinical knowledge, expertise and resources to help develop and advance innovations to fight COVID-19. Our teams have developed new types of testing modules and are actively working with partners to support the advancement of potential treatments and building of life-saving equipment.

Collaborated with the Mayo Clinic to advance a national program to develop convalescent plasma treatments; released a study on the effectiveness of polyester swabs and saline transportation for testing; released a study on a new self-administered test, improving testing efficiency and protecting health care workers.
Partnered with the University of Minnesota, Boston Scientific and Medtronic to develop and produce 3,000 light ventilators to address the supply shortfall.
Sir Andrew Witty, president of UnitedHealth Group and CEO of Optum, has been asked to co-lead a global effort of the World Health Organization, in partnership with key stakeholders, to accelerate the development of a COVID-19 vaccine.
