About Norman Wright

Norman Wright joined the UnitedHealth Group Growth and Strategy team as chief customer officer in May 2021 to lead enterprise efforts on customer experience. Wright oversees all brand and marketing strategy and execution focused on increasing awareness and affinity among customers and key constituents, driving engagement and fostering growth. He also is responsible for improving quality and service experiences across all customer interactions and channels.

Most recently, in 2020, Wright was chief marketing and customer experience officer for Optum, expanding on his prior role as Optum’s chief customer officer. Previously, he led Global Operations across Optum, delivering solutions grounded in affordability, global scale and quality, with an organization encompassing 55,000 team members across five global regions.

Prior to joining Optum in 2013, Wright was the managing director, Client Experience, for Citigroup’s Consumer Operations in North America. He was also a partner with the consulting firm Accenture, where he led a practice in call center transformation for the financial services and retail industries. Before Accenture, Wright led Customer Care at Home Shopping Network. He also managed call center operations and technology at Fidelity Investments, GE Capital and Chase Manhattan Bank.

Wright currently serves as chairman of the United Health Foundation Board, UnitedHealth Group’s Charitable Giving Committee, and the new UnitedHealth Group Equity Board. Wright also sits on the Advisory Board for Live Rocket, and serves on the board of the YMCA Of The North (Minneapolis/St. Paul). He has served on multiple nonprofit boards throughout his career.
