Social responsibility

​​​​​​UnitedHealth Group and the United Health Foundation are committed to the communities where we live and work. Since 2000, UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare, Optum and the United Health Foundation have given over $1.3 billion in charitable contributions and community relations support to help build healthier communities.  ​

Philanthropy happens across the Enterprise, and the first place to look for funding for a cause that you think is worthwhile is in your own backyard. Most businesses have budget dollars set aside for charitable/community relations giving and/or sponsorships.

Through collaboration with community partners, grants and outreach efforts, the United Health Foundation works to improve our health system, build a diverse and dynamic health workforce and enhance the well-being of local communities. ​

The United Health Foundation was established by UnitedHealth Group in 1999 as a not-for-profit, private foundation dedicated to improving health and health care. To date, the United Health Foundation has committed more than $700 million to programs and communities around the world.

UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation provides medical grants to enhance the quality of life of children across the United States. Volunteer, shop, attend a fundraising event and more at uhccf.org. Eligible donations made to UHCCF will be matched by the United Health Foundation. 

Connected Cities (CC): The Connected Cities (CC) program enhances connectivity between remote colleagues in similar geographies. Team members coordinate volunteer activities in their local community to advance health equity and address social determinants of health. 

Employee Community Council (ECC): An ECC is a structured group of onsite employee volunteers who plan events to advance health equity and deepen their understanding of diversity and inclusion.​

Pro Bono Program: The Pro Bono Program allows team members to volunteer their time and expertise in service to non-profit organizations and communities across the globe.

Make a bigger impact when donating time or money to the causes, communities, and colleagues you care about across the globe. Through our United for Giving program, you can receive a 1:1 match for donations to eligible charities, earn $10 in rewards for every tracked volunteer hour up to 50 hours ($500) each year, or help your colleagues recover from a natural disaster or other qualifying catastrophic event through United for Each Other.

Our Employee Assistance Fund, United for Each Other, helps colleagues recover from a natural disaster or other qualifying catastrophic event. Employees can apply for financial support at charities.org/unitedforeachother.
