Dr. Bazarko is the founder and senior vice president of Moment Health, an Optum business focused on bringing mindfulness solutions to the workplace, to health care workers and into health care delivery to improve the care experience.
Dr. Bazarko has served in a variety of leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group involving clinical innovation and delivery system reform, and is a co-founder of UnitedHealth Group’s Center for Nursing Advancement. Established in 2008, the Center for Nursing Advancement was created to support the personal and professional development and health and well-being of the company’s nurses, and influence the profession and health care as a whole.
An R.N., Dr. Bazarko holds a Master’s in Public Health, specializing in environmental and occupational health, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, both from the University of Minnesota. She received her certification as a mindfulness facilitator from the Mindful Awareness Research Center, University of California, Los Angeles, and served as lead researcher for one of the most widely read articles on mindfulness-based stress reduction published in the Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health.
Dr. Bazarko serves on numerous boards, including the American Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees and the University of Minnesota Nursing Foundation Board. In recognition of her contributions to the field of nursing, Dr. Bazarko was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2014.
