  • People across the country are encouraged to walk on their own time, at their own pace, for better health and to raise money for kids

The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF) is hosting the 3rd annual Steppin’ Up for Kids (SUFK) walk, a national initiative that encourages people to engage in healthier lifestyles on their own time while raising funds for medical grants for kids. Participants are encouraged to walk 20,000 or more steps May 6-June 15.

Participants can register at crowdrise.com/steppinupforkids2019 as individuals, families or teams and fundraise to make a difference for children. Once registered, team members join regional teams, representing their part of the United States, and record their dollars through their personal fundraising page. A $25 registration fee will be applied toward each participant’s fundraising goals and contribute toward incentive prizes for those who walk and fundraise at various levels. Visit the website to see a full list of available incentives.

“Since 2017, Steppin’ Up for Kids has raised nearly $120,000 and participants have taken more than 4 million steps toward funding medical grants for children across the United States,” said Matt Peterson, president of UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation. “We want as many people as possible to be part of this amazing movement.”

Each regional team is led by a UHCCF Ambassador, all of whom are grant recipients. The four regional teams are: Lucas’ Lions (Northeast Region), Chloe’s Champions (Southeast Region), Marcus’ Marchers (West Region), and Madison’s Mile Markers (Central Region). Read their inspiring stories and understand how UHCCF medical grants help them and their families.
