UnitedHealthcare Community Plan has expanded its service area to include five additional New York State counties where it offers the New York State sponsored health insurance programs Medicaid Managed Care.

UnitedHealthcare’s New York State-sponsored Medicaid Managed Care programs are now available in New York City, on Long Island, in the Hudson Valley and throughout Central and Western New York.

The 43 counties – which now include Dutchess, Erie, Greene, Livingston and Wyoming – are: Albany, Bronx, Broome, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Essex, Fulton, Genesee, Herkimer, Jefferson, Kings, Lewis, Madison, Monroe, Nassau, New York, Niagara, Oneida, Ontario, Onondaga, Orange, Oswego, Queens, Rensselaer, Richmond, Rockland, St. Lawrence, Seneca, Suffolk, Tioga, Ulster, Warren, Wayne and Westchester. UnitedHealthcare offers Child Health Plus in 38 counties, excluding Erie, Dutchess Greene, Livingston and Wyoming counties.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan offers programs for adults and children who may qualify for Medicaid and Child Health Plus. These programs offer comprehensive health coverage – including preventive care, primary care, hospitalization, prescriptions and other services – often at low or no cost.

People enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Community Plans have access to innovative wellness programs, including nurse outreach and support for members who may need additional assistance in managing chronic diseases, and the “Healthy First Steps” program for expectant mothers and newborns. Plan participants also receive additional support through UnitedHealthcare’s member-outreach programs to remind and encourage them to seek preventive care.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve more New Yorkers by expanding service and continuing to innovate in wellness programs that give people access to affordable, quality health care, particularly preventive care,” said Pat Celli, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New York. “We look forward to engaging with local health and other community-based organizations as we strive to help improve the health of our members and our communities.”

UnitedHealthcare also is offering the new Essential Plan through the NY State of Health Marketplace in 2016 to eligible, lower-income New Yorkers who may not qualify for Medicaid. The Essential Plan has no annual deductible and offers the same essential benefits as other insurance plans, including free preventive care.
