Gail Boudreaux, Jeannine Rivet Receive Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal "Woman in Business" Leadership Awards
Minneapolis (May 26, 2009) – Gail K. Boudreaux, president of UnitedHealthcare and executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, and Jeannine Rivet, executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, have been honored by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal with its annual Women in Business awards.
Boudreaux was selected for an Industry Leader Award, which honors 25 local women who have risen to the top of their field as innovators and are leading trends and breaking new ground within their industries. Rivet won the Career Achievement Award, which honors a female executive’s leadership, exceptional performance and involvement in the Twin Cities business community.
“These awards reflect Jeannine and Gail’s commitment to serving people and the communities where they work and live,” said Stephen Hemsley, president and CEO of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH). “Gail and Jeannine are both industry leaders who have worked tirelessly over their careers to improve access to quality health care and provide innovative solutions to the health care system.”
Boudreaux serves as president of UnitedHealthcare, with revenues of $41.8 billion in 2008 and approximately 42,000 employees. The company serves individuals, public sector employers and businesses of all sizes, including more than half of the FORTUNE 100 companies. In fact, if UnitedHealthcare were evaluated as a standalone business, it would be the third-largest company in the U.S. with a woman at its helm. Boudreaux was named to FORTUNE magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” list in 2008.
Rivet, who began her career as a pediatric nurse, currently serves as executive vice president at UnitedHealth Group and is a member of the company’s executive leadership team. Her work spans all six of the company’s business segments in areas focused on strategic and business relationship management, military health programs and social responsibility. In her nearly 20-year career with UnitedHealth Group, she has served as CEO of three UnitedHealth Group businesses: UnitedHealthcare, Ingenix and OptumHealth. Rivet has appeared on FORTUNE’s list of “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” three times (1998, 1999 and 2000).
The 2009 Women in Business honorees were announced in the May 22 issue of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, which is available on newsstands and online at http://twincities.bizjournals.com.
