Arthur Miller Joins UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services as Chief Operating Officer

Miller Brings Extensive Military and Private Sector Health Care Leadership Experience

UnitedHealth Group's Military & Veterans Services Will Leverage the Company's Resources and Expertise to Support the Military and Veterans Health Systems

Minneapolis (April 24, 2008) – UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) today announced that Arthur Miller has been appointed chief operating officer of UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services, a dedicated UnitedHealth Group business focused on providing the nation’s military, veterans and their families with high-quality, affordable health care.

Lori McDougal, chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Military & Veterans Services, said, “We are pleased to have Art Miller join our team given his leadership in health care, including his many years of service for the Department of Defense’s health system. I am confident that his experience will leverage UnitedHealth’s extensive work with federal and state governments and other large public entities, complementing and enhancing the care and services provided to beneficiaries.”

Mr. Miller said, “I have seen first-hand that the military provides quality care, and I am honored to be part of a team at UnitedHealth that can focus the Company’s private sector experience, investments, innovation and state-of-the-art capabilities to support this critical health system.”

Mr. Miller will report to Ms. McDougal and work in partnership with UnitedHealth’s executives across the enterprise. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Miller was president of Infocrossing Healthcare Services, Inc., a provider of IT outsourcing and business processing solutions. He also has worked for the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, the TRICARE Management Activity (the Department of Defense’s military health system) and the Office of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (OCHAMPUS) (the precursor program and organization to TRICARE). Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Navy for more than 22 years, retiring with the rank of captain.

At the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Mr. Miller served as the director of business plans for TRICARE operations. In this capacity, he oversaw the Operation of the Navy Healthcare system, which includes more than 100 hospitals and health facilities throughout the world; was responsible for Navy/Marine Corps health care policy; and served as Special Advisor to the Navy Surgeon General for TRICARE activity.
