Hemsley President and Chief Executive Officer UnitedHealth Group Stephen Hemsley was named chief executive officer and president, UnitedHealth Group, on Nov. 30, 2006. He had previously served as president and chief operating officer, UnitedHealth Group, and is a member of the company’s board of directors. Boudreaux Executive Vice President UnitedHealth Group and President Commercial Markets Group Gail Boudreaux joined UnitedHealth Group in May 2008 as an executive vice president and as president of the Commercial Markets Group, which includes UnitedHealthcare and Uniprise. Boudreaux was formerly executive vice president of Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) and prior to that served as president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, a division of HCSC. Before joining HCSC she held various positions at Aetna, including senior vice president of Aetna Group Insurance and vice president of Customer Service.   back to top    William A. Munsell Executive Vice President UnitedHealth Group and President Enterprise Services Group William Munsell became president of the Enterprise Services Group in September 2007. Enterprise Services includes OptumHealth, Ingenix and Exante. He was appointed executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group, in December 2006. Previously, Munsell held the positions of chief executive officer, Specialized Care Services, and chief administrative officer, UnitedHealthcare. He joined UnitedHealth Group in 1997 and brings more than 25 years of experience in operations, finance, treasury, executive management and business processes to the company.   back to top    Anthony Welters Executive Vice President UnitedHealth Group and President Public and Senior Markets Group In September 2007, Anthony Welters was named president of the Public and Senior Markets Group, which is made up of Ovations and AmeriChoice. He was appointed executive vice president, UnitedHealth Group, in December 2006. Welters had previously been president, chief executive officer and a founder of AmeriChoice, which was acquired by UnitedHealth Group in 2002. Prior to his role with AmeriChoice, Welters held a number of senior positions in the federal government and in private industry.   back to top   David S. Wichmann Executive Vice President UnitedHealth Group and President UnitedHealth Group Operations David Wichmann, executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, assumed the position of president of UnitedHealth Group Operations in May 2008. Wichmann was most recently president of the company's Commercial Markets Group. He previously held positions at UnitedHealth Group as president and chief operating officer, UnitedHealthcare; president and chief executive officer, Specialized Care Services; and senior vice president, Corporate Development. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group in 1998, Wichmann was a partner with Arthur Andersen.   back to top   G. Mike Mikan Executive Vice President Chief Financial Officer UnitedHealth Group Mike Mikan was elected executive vice president and chief financial officer, UnitedHealth Group, in November 2006. He was most recently senior vice president, Finance, for the company. Mikan previously served as chief financial officer for UnitedHealthcare and chief financial officer for Specialized Care Services. Prior to these positions, Mikan was an executive in the company’s Corporate Development group, which is responsible for merger and acquisition activities.   back to top    Thomas L. Strickland Executive Vice President Chief Legal Officer UnitedHealth Group Thomas Strickland was appointed executive vice president and chief legal officer of UnitedHealth Group in May 2007. Previously, Strickland was a partner of the Hogan & Hartson law firm, serving as managing partner for the firm’s Colorado offices. He was also a member of Hogan & Hartson's executive committee and worked closely with UnitedHealth Group as outside legal counsel on a variety of issues. Prior to joining Hogan & Hartson, Strickland served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado from 1999 through 2001. Prior to this appointment, he spent 15 years in private practice with a concentration on regulatory, administrative and public law.   back to top   Don Nathan Senior Vice President Chief Communications Officer UnitedHealth Group Don Nathan joined UnitedHealth Group as senior vice president, chief communications officer, effective May 28, 2007. He is responsible for all internal and external communications. Nathan was formerly a strategic communications consultant with Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, beginning in 1991, and was a partner at the firm for ten years. Previously, Nathan worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., serving in a number of different Congressional and campaign capacities.   back to top    John S. Tuckson, M.D. Executive Vice President and Chief of Medical Affairs UnitedHealth Group Dr. Reed Tuckson was appointed executive vice president and chief of Medical Affairs in December 2006. Dr. Tuckson joined UnitedHealth Group in 2000 as senior vice president, Consumer Health and Medical Care Advancement. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Dr. Tuckson worked as senior vice president, Professional Standards, for the American Medical Association (AMA).
